AltruWood Douglas Fir Reclaimed Timbers are valued for their beautiful aged patina {insert link}, their old-world character, and their dry, stable state. We offer AltruWood Douglas Fir Reclaimed Timbers in a wide variety of sizes from 2” x 4” to 28” x 42”. Contact an AltruWood Sales Representative for help sizing your project.
We prefer to buy our Douglas Fir Timbers from large-scale deconstruction projects rather than source them from barns (this avoids the issues with mortise holes and moisture problems common with the Pacific Northwest). Every timber is hand-picked according to your order. With an original surface, customers can specify either Rough Sawn or Nominal. Nominal means the timbers were planed before being used in their previous application.
AltruWood Nominal Timbers still have the original aged patina; however, their surface is slightly smoother and their size might be up to ¾” smaller than the listed size (for example, an 8” x 10” may actually measure 7 ¼” x 8 ½”). Rough Sawn Timbers retain their original rough sawn texture created by the saw that cut them years ago.
Graded Timbers for structural applications are also available.
