AltruWood Standing Dead Beams and Timbers comes from trees that have died while still standing due to firekill, bug damage, etc. (hence the name: Standing Dead). When this happens, they begin the drying process while standing and dry very efficiently. AltruWood Standing Dead Timbers are considered more stable with less twisting, warping and movement (as well as pitch) than a traditional new, green timber. With a pleasant, amber tone, these timbers except a stain and finish magnificently.
We have sourced Standing Dead Material up and down the West Coast and throughout Canada and we believe in our ability to discern the finest Standing Dead Timbers. Unless otherwise desired, all of our Standing Dead is site graded to an Appearance Grade # 1 and Better (additional structural grades also available).
Because we cut these timbers from logs, we are able to produce Standing Dead Timbers in almost any size imaginable. We offer all of the same surface treatments (circle sawn, band sawn, surfaced, hewn, distressed) as we do with our Reclaimed Douglas Fir, in addition to a “Circle Sawn Texture” achieved by cutting our timbers on a circular sawmill.
Standing Dead Timbers give our customer’s maximum flexibility in both
size and appearance. Contact us today for a quote on your project.
